Almost seven generations

To Oak Bay Council,

I was astonished to learn that Advisory Design Panel and Advisory Planning Commission have already rubber-stamped the above-noted project that threatens to destroy a heritage tree.

How can this possibly have advanced to this stage? Why aren’t our elected official protecting the unique and irreplaceable beauty of Oak Bay?

That tree is estimated to be over 200 years old – that mean if a replacement Garry oak were planted elsewhere, it would be almost seven generations before it reached the same grand size of the current one.

If this project goes ahead, I hope Council has plans for a tree museum, so future generations can see what once lived here in abundance.
